MISSION CALL!

It finally arrived. Richard recieved his call in the mail on Friday March 24 th. Of course he was at the work at the time so we had to wait to open it till he got home at 9:30. Then we had to wait till Murray got home from Houston at 11:oo. So, surrounded by friends, family, and on several phones he read the call to serve in the California Arcadia Mission Spanish speaking Mission! He is to report at the MTC on April 26th at 12:30. THAT'S ONLY ONE MONTH AWAY! We are very excited that he will be serving the Lord in sunny California. Some things we have found out about the Arcadia mission so far: -it's very small geographically (about 15 by 30 miles) -it includes East LA and Pasendina- there are lots of people from other countries (not many white people in some areas). We (the girls) will go with him to send him off in the MTC (Murray will be in Sask.) And that's it.

Congratulations Richard! I'm sure you will be an excellent missionary based on the stories I've heard about you introducing your friends to the church. Good luck in all your last minute preparations for the MTC.

Good luck at the MTC. As Gordon told his "student ward" when we got home - "Laurie took it like a man and I cried like a baby." Yup. Really. Not very flattering for either of us. but it was a wonderful experience for us anyway - sobbing aside. (Gordon made up for it when he met with Clarke at the SLC airport before he left for Sweden, and said good-bye without shedding a tear.)

Good luck Richard - I know you'll be a great missionary. We'll remember you in our prayers. And good luck Nadine and Murray. We found it to be a bigger sacrifice than we ever imagined, and missed Clarke terribly. I'm not gonna lie.

Awesome Richard. That call sounds like a dream come true. State-side church strength with receptive hispanic culture will prove to be a sweet combination. I have great confidence in you. I look forward to hearing about your adventures.
